Eyeglass & Lens Cleaners — Safe for AR, Blue-Light & Polarized Coatings

Eyeglass cleaner that is safe for Crizal, Zeiss DuraVision, Hoya, and Essilor anti-reflective coatings — plus blue-light filters, Transitions, and polarized lenses. Biodegradable, ammonia-free, leaves an anti-fog finish. One formula, four sizes: 2 oz (60 ml) for a desk drawer or handbag, 8 oz (250 ml) for the bathroom counter, and 16 oz or 32 oz for a household of daily wearers or an optical practice.

If you have ever had a pair of progressives go cloudy in a year, it was the cleaner. The "lens spray" handed out at the optical counter is mostly isopropyl alcohol and a surfactant — both of which slowly dissolve the binder layer beneath the AR coating. Once that layer goes, the coating crazes and there is no fixing it short of new lenses. How to choose

One pair of glasses, light wearer: 2 oz. Daily wearer, two+ pairs (readers + driving), or you wear progressives: 8 oz. Households with three+ wearers or an optometry practice: order the 16 oz from the Wholesale collection. Always pair with a clean microfibre — never with a paper towel or shirt tail, which is what scratches coatings.

Is it really safe for AR (anti-reflective) coatings?

AR coatings fail from alcohol, ammonia, and abrasive wiping — Sparklean has none of those. It is water-based with a biodegradable surfactant. For routine eyeglass cleaning, follow the lens manufacturer's care instructions.

Will it strip the blue-light filter or polarized layer?

No. Blue-light filters and polarized films are bonded under the AR layer, so anything that protects AR protects them. If your glasses are anti-glare + blue-light + Transitions stacked, all three coatings stay intact.

Does it really work as anti-fog?

Yes — it leaves a thin hydrophilic film that prevents water droplets from beading. Best applied at the start of the day. Reapply if you go from cold outdoors to a hot indoor space.

Can I use it on plastic and polycarbonate lenses, not just glass?

Yes. Sparklean is safe on CR-39, polycarbonate, Trivex, and high-index plastic lenses (1.67, 1.74). It is also safe on Transitions photochromic lenses — the photochromic dye is inside the lens, not on the surface.

Is it safe for camera lenses and binoculars?

For multi-coated camera lenses with similar AR stacks, yes. Spray onto a microfibre, never directly onto the front element. For uncoated or special-coating astronomy optics, follow the manufacturer guidance — we don't claim coverage there.
