It depends on the piece. GIA does not recommend home ultrasonic cleaners for diamond jewelry because vibration can loosen stones in worn settings, so have a jeweler check the setting first. Never use it on pearls, opals, turquoise, emeralds, or fracture-filled or antique stones, which can crack.
